!By process of elimination I have concluded that the Andrew in the
Salt Creek, Holmes Co, OH census of 1850 must be this Andrew since
his parents and brothers were there at the time and this is the only
Andrew I can find in that area.

There is an Andrew Buckmaster 47 OH listed in the John Florey family
in Adams Twp, Defiance Co in 1860 on p.328 so maybe Andrew was just
working elsewhere since 7 pages later (p.335) are listed his son
William and daughter Sarah.
It appears that Andrew and Sophia split up, whether by divorce or
otherwise,
because there is an Andrew of the same age who marries in Adams
County, Indiana in 1862. Adams Co., Indiana is on the border with
Ohio and Defiance Co, OH is on the border with Indiana. Defiance
Co. is just a little further north so it is reasonable to assume
that these are one and the same Andrew Buckmasters. There seems to
be some age problem with Sophia's age on the census. Maybe Sophia is
really the 2nd wife of Andrew and was 28 or 29 on the 1850 census
and maybe the 1860 should read 39.
Arley Buckmaster has Lydia McPherson married to Andrew(1812)'s son
and I think he is probably correct. I need to look at the 1870
census for Adams Co. to try to confirm this.
Margaret F. Brown says that Andrew and Sophia were divorced and that
Andrew(1812) was the husband of Lydia McFurson. She has that
information from family and court records and so I have changed my
mind and think that she is right.
Samuel Buckmaster history (last page) leaves blank Andrew's father
and puts Andrew's grandfather as Isach |
